Cross Fade
Year:
2020
Materials:
acrylic and tape on canvas
'Cross Fade' is the latest series of the tape paintings that I made. A process driven art, the work pays homage to my background in architecture. Dealing with grids and patterns, the intention (both in art and architecture) is to create movement in otherwise still/ non-moving objects. The paintings represent the explorations with a simple mathematical logic behind them.
Using a gradient of spray paints and plotting the shapes using masking tape, the technique requires a methodology to visualize the end product. By plotting the lines on the computer and transferring that information to the canvas, the process is familiar to how architects start on buildings, through sketching before construction.
