Public Seating

Year:

2015

Materials:

wood, something, something

Location:

National Gallery, Singapore

This public seating project for the National Gallery Singapore blends heritage and contemporary design, reflecting the space’s historical and modern architectural identity. The collection features reinterpretations of classical furniture styles, integrating traditional carved wood and vintage forms with sleek, modern elements like gold finishes and perforated metal.

Each piece invites visitors to engage with the gallery’s artistic and cultural environment while offering functional and aesthetic value. The curved benches, hybrid chairs, and intricate lattice-patterned seats create a dialogue between the past and present, seamlessly complementing the gallery’s grand interiors and glass-roofed atrium.

Suspended between utility and artistry, the seating installations celebrate craftsmanship and innovation, bridging eras to enhance the visitor experience in a space where art and history converge.
